Microneedling Treatment

Don't be scared by the name. Just because it involves needles doesn't mean it will be painful. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area. 

The anesthetic cream numbs the skin, making the treatment very comfortable and painless. You may feel some sensitivity, especially around your eyes.

Although the treatment is safe for all skin types, you may be unable to have it if you have certain medical issues. Active acne vulgaris, rosacea, active skin infections, elevated keloid scars, actinic keratosis, and various non-melanoma and melanoma skin malignancies, eczema, psoriasis, sebaceous hyperplasia, and open wounds are only a few examples.

Before you begin therapy, your practitioner will discuss any health issues you may have.

The results vary from person to person depending on how your skin reacts to the procedure. The first thing you'll notice following the treatment is the skin's instant dewiness, firmness, and plumpness. The most significant outcomes, however, will not be noticeable for four to six weeks following treatment.

Most people get the best benefits from 3 to 5 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Deeper acne scars or wrinkles may require additional treatments.

Depending on the desired treatment and anatomical site, the procedure is usually done within 60 minutes. Before we obtain your consent, Kim will explain the procedure, its risks and benefits, and will lead you through a comprehensive skin consultation.

A topical anesthetic (in the form of a cream) is administered to your skin before the treatment begins. This numbs your skin and keeps you comfortable throughout the procedure.

After the area has been numbed, Kim will slide the device over your skin gently to puncture the epidermis layers and create minute sub-cutaneous injuries. These microscopic wounds heal in 3-5 minutes, yet it's enough to trigger new collagen deposition that can last up to a year. You could feel some discomfort, especially around your eyes and other sensitive regions of your face.

Following the procedure, your skin will show signs of redness or erythema, comparable to a mild sunburn. There might be some minor swelling. The redness and swelling will start to go down 24-48 hours following the treatment. By day 3, the erythema and swelling will have subsided, and the skin takes on a pink color, leaving little trace of the procedure.

During the first three days, you will also notice some skin tightness, dryness, and minor sensitivity to touch on the treated regions. This diminishes significantly after the treatment and over the next 2-3 days. Kim  will suggest rescue skincare to assist soothe and protect the skin while also enhancing the results. We always recommend using sunscreen after treatment.

No, as long as the skin is protected against UV rays after the treatment and for the first 7-10 days with a sunscreen. Overexposure to UV rays after microneedling may result in hyperpigmentation, however the risk is quite low (less than 3 percent ).

If you have a history of hyperpigmentation, you must inform your practitioner before beginning therapy.

To obtain the best results, we recommend a series of 3-5 treatments every 4 weeks. As your skin's matrix regrows new collagen, you may expect to notice improvements for up to 6-8 months following the last treatment.

However, the growth factors obtained will be based on your age.

Therefore, the plasma used in PRP is limited by the health and age of the client. For example, if you are 60, you will get the benefits of a 60-year-old growth factor.
